The Robb Stark actor offers up his ideal ending to the epic fantasy series…

Playing a Stark in Game of Thrones, we’d expect Richard Madden to vote from one of his own family in the quest for the throne. However, he’s also got a soft spot for Daenerys Targaryen – the Mother of Dragons.

We asked Madden who he’d put on the Iron Throne if he could write the script. “Jon Snow and Daenerys together,” said Madden. “Married, together and ruling the kingdom,” he added.

“[They’d] be very happy. With hairy, scaly blonde babies,” he joked.

Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, lives in exile and is the only remaining child of King Aerys II Targaryen, who was previously ousted from the Iron Throne. She has gone on an incredible journey in series one, two and three in the drama, roping in thousands of warriors to fight her side in the battle of the Iron Throne, which she claims is hers by birthright.

Madden’s character Robb Stark is the half brother of Jon Snow (the bastard son of Eddard Stark), and Stark got killed off at the end of series three, in one of the most dramatic scenes yet. He, his wife and his mother got their throats slit in what has been dubbed ‘The Red Wedding’ – Madden said wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

“Game of Thrones was a great five years of my life from the first pilot,” he said. “I wouldn’t want any more of that. I had such a great time on that, and I learned a lot from it.

“I had a brilliant time [working on Game of Thrones], but I think it was pretty perfect the way it was. I wouldn’t want to change it,” he said, “[Besides] you can’t really top that death, can you?”

Richard Madden is set to star in Discovery Channel’s new mini-series Klondike this week (9pm, March 27), based on the Canadian Gold Rush. The Ridley Scott produced series will also star Tim Roth and Sam Shepard.
